SHANGHAI, Jul. 5 (SMM) – Growing anti-dumping investigations and high anti-dumping duty took a heavy toll on exports by China’s leading aluminum extrusion producer.
Aluminum extrusion exports by the leading producer fell 28.6% year-on-year to 120,534 tonnes in Q1, according to its financial report.
Customs data showed China’s exports of aluminum extrusion plunged 37.91% year-on-year in April.

However, SMM’s survey of nearly 50 domestic aluminum extrusion producers showed their exports dropped only slightly from a year ago.
SMM believes sharply falling exports by the leading producer was the main reason behind the plunge indicated by customs data.

As a countermeasure to intensified anti-dumping measures, the Chinese aluminum extrusion giant reduced output of aluminum extrusion in favor of high value-added aluminum alloy formwork, SMM learned.
